Often portrayed in media and marketing as strong, lean and sexy, these women are the epitome of optimal
health and fitness.
However the reality of that couldn’t be further from the truth. Numerous fat loss and comp
prep techniques often used by coaches take an immense toll on the body, and have shown
to disrupt hormonal health, create poor relationship with foods, and negatively impact the
mindset of the female competitor. The worst part of that, is the lie that all this is completely
‘normal’ and should be accepted as part of the journey by the competitor.
It is no wonder that the longevity and passion for the sport of body building is often short-
lived, leaving the competitor physiologically damaged and mentally scarred from the ordeal.
While getting to such low bodyfat levels on stage is not a representation of optimal health,
